Objective and Theme of the [2]007 Ball

OBJECTIVES

1) To provide a platform for the target audience to mingle in a non-academic environment

2) To foster relationships between students of mass communication and lecturers

3) To honor the graduating Mass Communications students of year 2007

The primary objective of the [2]007 Ball is to break down the communication barriers between the School of Communication students of various semesters and majors. It is essential that the seniors and juniors be given the opportunity to mingle freely to build stronger relationships with one another.

Furthermore, the Ball serves as an avenue for both the lecturers and students of Taylor’s College School of Communication to get to know one another as both parties seldom have the opportunity to communicate outside the classroom walls.

Finally, the [2]007 Ball will be held to acknowledge the graduating students of Taylor’s College School of Communication in honor of all their achievements throughout their course.

THEME

After much brainstorming and consideration, we chose License to Party as the official theme of the [2]007 Ball. Our concept revolves around James Bond and everything he stands for. The 007 theme also coincides perfectly with the year 2007. We selected License to Party (renamed after Bond’s License to Kill) because we wanted a concept that would generate hype from both the male and female students, as opposed to the conventional themes that only capture the interest of the female students.

This versatile theme allows us to play up on various factors associated to James Bond movies – glamour, sophistication, and suspense. Apart from crowning a Bond and Bond Girl (instead of your usual Ball King and Queen), the dinner and dance will include various Bond-related activities, such as Guess the Undercover Spy.
